In Georgia, residents of Gachiani village demand to release their fellow villagers
On December 25, in the village of Gachiani in the Gardaban District, where Azerbaijani people lived, activists held an action with the demand to release two persons detained after a conflict at the cemetery on the charge of resisting the police.
According to the protesters, the detainees are decent citizens who tried to prevent unidentified people from taking drugs.
"Our guys were guarding the cemetery. Three persons came. We asked them why they came. They told us that they were to take drugs. We forbade them to do that. Then a quarrel broke out between us, and they opened fire. Two people were wounded. Then the police came and arrested our guys," said local resident Elvin Ismailov as quoted by the "News-Georgia".
The incident occurred at night on December 25. During a quarrel, one of the men wounded three people from a pistol. Policemen disarmed the gunman, reports the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).
Villagers have repeatedly protested against the sale of drugs at the cemetery. Soon, the discontent escalated into the confrontation with drug dealers, the "report.az" reports.
Drug dealers hide drugs in dug-out pits, and then their clients take the drugs, the "Georgia Online" reports.
