FSB reports prevented terror act in KBR

In Nalchik, the capital of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), law enforcers have detained a militant, who was preparing a terror act with the use of a homemade bomb, the Russian FSB has reported today.

According to the intelligence services, the alleged militant of the "Islamic State" (IS, earlier – the ISIL), a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court, was detained on April 25.

The detainee was planning to "commit a resonant terror act by using an improvised explosive device (IED)." An IED, extremist literature and "other proofs of his involvement in the preparation of the terror act" were found at his home, the "Interfax" quotes the FSB's message.

According to law enforcers, the detainee was a member of the KBR's armed underground for the past ten years. Following the instructions of the leaders of the "Baksan" militant grouping, he had made the IEDs, used in the attack on the Baksan hydroelectric power plant (HPP) in 2010, and the terror acts against law enforcers of the KBR in 2009-2012, the FSB asserts.

"According to the FSB, after the leaders and active members of the gang were neutralized, the detainee established secret contacts with the moderators of the terrorist organization located in Syria, from whom he received instructions to prepare and commit a terror act," the TASS quotes the FSB's message.
