Georgian villager released in South Ossetia

In South Ossetia, law enforcers handed over Amiran Meladze, a resident of the village of Kveshi, detained on suspicion of violating the border, to the Georgian authorities, the Georgian State Security Service reported on May 7. In May, the border regime will be strengthened, the KGB of South Ossetia announces.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 5, Amiran Meladze, an elderly resident of the village of Kveshi, located in the Gori District of Georgia on the border with South Ossetia, was detained, the Georgian State Security Service reported.

After the trial in Tskhinvali, Amiran Meladze was released and handed over to Georgian law enforcers at the checkpoint in Ergneti, the "Georgia Online" reported May 7 without disclosing the details about the court's decision.

An official from the Georgian State Security Service confirmed that Amiran Meladze had been released, the "InterPressNews" reported on May 7.

Today, the KGB of South Ossetia has posted on Facebook a warning stating that in May, they are planning "the activities aimed at preventing offenses in the border sphere." In particular, the South-Ossetian KGB plans to strengthen the control over the "situation with the state border regime."
