Meet Adygey
Adygey is located on picturesque slopes of the Northwest Caucasus and in the valleys of the rivers Kuban and Laba. On its territory of 7800 sq km live about 450 thousand people belonging to more than 80 nationalities. The most numerous ethnic groups are Russians and Adygeys. Density of population - 57 people per 1 sq km - one of the highest in the Russian Federation. The republic includes - two cities, seven regions, five semiurban settlements, fifty five rural and village districts. The number of working population is more than 250 thousand people, pensioners 125 thousand people. The Adygey Republic is located inside Krasnodar Territory and has no borders with other subjects of the Russian Federation. Adygey capital, Maykop, is located 1670 km from Moscow, 160 km from Krasnodar. The nearest seaports of Tuapse and Novorossisk are located 150 and 270 km from the republican centre. Railway, bus and air transportation is organised to Moscow and other large cities of Russia and abroad. The airport Khansky having the status of an international airport has allowed to organise air transportation from Maykop to Moscow, Armenia, Turkey and Syria. Suburban trains deliver the passengers to the junction station Belorechenskaya of the North Caucasian railway, to the coast of the Black sea - Tuapse, Sochi, Adler, and to the foothills of the Caucasus - station Khadzhokh. Passenger train Maykop - Moscow goes in summer.
