Armenian railway workers stop striking
The train traffic along the South Caucasus Railway has been resumed after its managers made concessions to the locomotive drivers on strike.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 22, the locomotive drivers of the South Caucasus Railway began a strike and paralyzed the traffic of passenger and freight trains.
The train traffic was resumed, and locomotive crews of the South Caucasus Railway began to work at 00:40 a.m., the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Ruben Grdzelyan, the press secretary for the South Caucasus Railway.
According to him, on October 24, railway managers met locomotive crews. Following the meeting, it was decided to proactively index salaries of the entire staff of the South Caucasus Railway by 10% starting from November 1. Moreover, it is planned to submit for consideration by the Board of Directors of the South Caucasus Railway the issue on additional indexation of the hourly tariff rates of locomotive crews by 5% starting from January 1, 2020, Ruben Grdzelyan reports. "Given the positive results of the South Caucasus Railway, a lump-sum bonus in the amount of the average monthly salary is to be paid to every employee at the end of the year," announced the press secretary for the South Caucasus Railway.
