Petersburg activist holds picket in defence of Ingush political prisoners

In Saint Petersburg, Marina Ken, an activist, went out to a solo picket with portraits of detained protesters in Magas. After their arrest, the Ingush civil society is left without its representatives, she has claimed.

Let us remind you that on March 26, 2019, residents of Ingushetia extended their protest action held in Magas, the capital, which led to clashes with law enforcers. From early April, oppositionists' arrests began in the republic. According to the estimates of the "Caucasian Knot", at least 96 activists were persecuted; and criminal cases were opened against at least 29 of them.

The Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" has declared the leaders of protests in Ingushetia, namely, Akhmed Barakhoev, Musa Malsagov and Barakh Chemurziev, as well as Zarifa Sautieva, an activist, to be political prisoners.

"Now, in fact, the whole Ingush intelligentsia is behind bars. The society is in a state of complete oppression," Ms Ken said in her video posted on the Facebook.
