"Spiegel" reveals details of transferring data on Khangoshvili to Germany
Back in 2012, an official of the Russia's FSB handed information about the wanted Zelimkhan Khangoshvili over to German law enforcement bodies, "Der Spiegel" writes.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin had declared Zelimkhan Khangoshvili, shot dead in Germany, to be one of the organizers of the Moscow metro explosions. In his turn, Heiko Maas, the head of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has objected, stating that German authorities had not received any requests from Russia to extradite Khangoshvili.
Khangoshvili's acquaintances have suggested that both Russian and Georgian special services were interested in liquidating him. The suspected killer had served in the FSB's "Vympel" special unit, "The Insider", "Bellingcat" and "Der Spiegel" had announced the results of their investigation.
In 2012, the Russia's FSB handed over to their German colleagues a list with the names of 19 suspected terrorists, Khangoshvili among them, "Der Spiegel" reports. Four years later, Khangoshvili moved to Berlin with his wife and two children.
Let us remind you that German law enforcement bodies have suggested that the authorities of the Russian Federation or Chechnya could have given an order to kill Khangoshvili.
In August 2019, members of the Chechen Diaspora in Europe linked the murder with the activities of Russian special services. The persecution of Khangoshvili had to do with "his participation in the second Chechen War," said Ekkehard Maas, the head of the German-Caucasian Society in Berlin.
