Kadyrov approves murder of Khangoshvili

At a press conference held on December 23, Ramzan Kadyrov declared the authorities of Russia and Chechnya were not involved in the killing of Zelimkhan Khangoshvili in Berlin. Following President Vladimir Putin, Ramzan Kadyrov also called Zelimkhan Khangoshvili a terrorist.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Zelimkhan Khangoshvili, a native of the Pankisi Gorge, was killed in Berlin on August 23. A Russian citizen was detained on suspicion of the murder. Relatives of the murdered man suggested that the Russian and Georgian secret services were interested in his killing.

President Putin declared that Zelimkhan Khangoshvili, murdered in Germany, was one of the organizers of the bombings in the Moscow metro. "He was a fighter, a very tough, bloody man. 98 people were killed by him in only one of the terror acts in which he took part," the Russian President said.

At the Ramzan Kadyrov's press conference held on December 23, a correspondent of the Chechen edition "Vesti Respubliki" (News of Republic) asked the leader of Chechnya to comment on the version of German investigators about the involvement of the Russian or Chechen authorities in the murder of Zelimkhan Khangoshvili. Ramzan Kadyrov said the allegation was "absurd." The Chechen leader explained the death of Zelimkhan Khangoshvili by "clashes within criminal groupings."

Meanwhile, Ramzan Kadyrov reacted positively to the death of Zelimkhan Khangoshvili, who, according to him, "was involved in many terror acts."

In August, members of the Chechen Diaspora in Europe associated the killing of Zelimkhan Khangoshvili with the activities of the Russian secret services. The persecution of Zelimkhan Khangoshvili was related to "his participation in the second Chechen military campaign as a commander," explained Ekkehard Maas, the head of the German-Caucasian Society in Berlin.
