Facebook users disbelieve official version of attack on DPS post in Magas

The photo depicting the alleged participants of the New Year's attack on the post near Magas of the road-and-patrol service (DPS) post with their knives at the background of the flag of the "Islamic State" (IS*, a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court) is a fake, some Facebook users assert. The attackers had been recruited by law enforcers themselves, other social network commentators have suggested.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 31, 2019, there was an attack on a DPS post located at the entrance to Magas. One of the attackers and a policeman were killed. Three other law enforcers were wounded and hospitalized. According to sources, the attackers were identified as Mikail Miziev and Akhmed Imagozhev.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" received a photo depicting two men with knives in their hands; on a shelf behind them, there is a smartphone with the IS* flag and torn Russian passports.

The post placed on "The Magas Times" Facebook page on December 31, 2019, caused users' doubts.

Based on one photo, we can't conclude yet that the attackers swore allegiance to the IS*, the user Dauod Caucasus Gazdiev has pointed out. "They overdid it with the passport – it hangs in the air; while the phone and the knives were professionally edited. <...> Today, it's no problem to make such a photo. <...> Someone benefits from the fact there are extremists in Ingushetia," the user has pointed out.

Leyla Khautieva has suggested that the attackers had been recruited by law enforcers.

Pyatimat Yusupova has stated that she doesn't believe the official version. "They forced them – either under torture or by threats in order to destroy or humiliate the whole family before their eyes. It's been their (law enforcers', – note of the "Caucasian Knot") practice for many years," she wrote.
