NKR accuses Azerbaijan of 130 shelling attacks during week
Since December 29, 2019, Azerbaijani soldiers fired more than 1200 shots at the positions of the Defence Army, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) has informed.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in 2019, the MoD of the NKR counted about 9000 shelling attacks on its positions. This is the lowest figure since 2010, although there is no progress in settling the conflict, the MoD has stated.
"During the period from December 29, 2019, to January 4, 2020, the Azerbaijani side violated the ceasefire regime on the contact line of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Artsakh (the historical name of the NKR, – note of the "Caucasian Knot") and Azerbaijan more than 130 times," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent quotes the statement of the NKR's MoD.
According to the MoD, in total, during this period, about 600 shots from various small arms were fired in the direction of the positions of the NKR's Defence Army.
As of 3:00 p.m. Moscow time on January 4, the Azerbaijani MoD had not posted any comments on this statement on its website. However, according to the calculations of the "Caucasian Knot", the Azerbaijani side fixed a total of 165 shelling attacks on the contact line with the troops of Armenia and the NKR. Only in the past 24 hours, there were 22 such attacks, the Azerbaijani MoD stated on January 4.
