MIA announces average bribe in Northern Caucasus

In 2019, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) revealed that officials at various levels received 244 bribes, said Sergey Bachurin, the head of the Main Department of the Russian MIA for Northern Caucasus, on January 31. "In 2019, the average bribe amounted to 245,000 roubles," the "Interfax-South" quotes him as saying. In total, 101 persons were prosecuted for bribery.

Also, MIA employees fixed 182 facts of bribe-giving to the overall amount of 83 million roubles. Based on these data, the average bribe given to bureaucrats made 456,000 roubles.

In 2019, the MIA established 1846 corruption facts. Sergey Bachurin named the suppression of a criminal community in the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Dagestan as one of the most important cases. "The head of the department of social protection and a number of other officials were brought to justice within this case," the TASS quotes Mr Bachurin as stating.
