Dagestani police ignore Minister's call not to publish detainees' repentances

A resident of Dagestan has apologized for foul language when filming a street conflict of local residents with policemen. The video of repentance was posted by the republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), despite the request of the head thereof not to post videos with apologies.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 23, Abdurashid Magomedov, the Dagestani MIA head, called on the MIA's press service to respect citizens' rights and not to film any staged videos with their apologies. The Minister's reaction was triggered by the video posted on the MIA's Instagram page with an apology of a Khasavyurt resident for violating traffic rules.

A new video, in which a detainee apologizes for his actions, was posted last night in the Instagram account of the MIA of Dagestan. "Today, on February 29, I shot policemen to my camera and spoke obscene words. I would like to apologize for my speech. Policemen acted within the law. I promise, this will not happen again," said the young man, who was standing in the study looking into the camera.
