Residents of Sochi complain about survival problems under quarantine
More than 250 protocols for violating the quarantine regime have already been drawn up in Sochi. Townspeople tell about severe restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus and complained about financial problems caused by inability to work.
Those who went out on the seventh day of quarantine treat the authorities' ban on movement without permits as illegal.
Since March 31, residents of the Krasnodar Territory are forbidden to leave their homes; travelling in private passenger cars is possible only on special permits.
As of April 8, the number of coronavirus infected patients in the Territory reached 85.
Irina, a hairdresser, has complained that sitting at home is unbearable. According to her story, now, she has no work and no money. She treats the quarantine problem as "economic and political."
"Hairdressers, seamstresses, guides, taxi drivers, mini-hotel staff, booth traders and cleaners – all those who had received shadow incomes from their legal and illegal businesses are now starving," she has complained.
Svetlana Kapustina said that prior to quarantine she worked as a booth saleswoman and received her "black" salary from the employer. With the introduction of quarantine, the booth was closed; and she is without livelihood with her son.
Alexei Eroshov said that he went to a bakery for bread, but he was stopped by policemen who demanded a pass from him. They considered that the man had gone too far from home, and wanted to draw up a protocol on him.
According to Andrei Puzanov, a jobless lawyer, he cares for his elderly parents. The Pension Fund explained to him that, by the law, he has no right to do any paid work.
"As a lawyer, I am sure that these measures of compulsory self-isolation and imposition of fines for quarantine violations are excessive and illegal. I agree with the voluntary self-isolation regime," he said.
