Social network users criticize video of Chechen law enforcers without masks

At the entrance to Grozny, policemen neglect the personal protective equipment against the coronavirus infection, although ordinary residents are obliged to wear masks, Instagram users express their indignation.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that starting from April 13, residents of Chechnya are banned from leaving their homes without special permits. Law enforcers conduct raids to detect violators of the quarantine regime. Detained residents of Gudermes were threatened with public works, the "Grozny" TV Channel reported.

A video with policemen without protective masks was posted on the public account "ChP/Grozny" in Instagram.

While patrolling the streets or standing at mobile checkpoints, law enforcers often neglect the personal protective equipment against the coronavirus infection, notes Israil, a member of a local NGO.

"Is the coronavirus infection afraid of firearms? Why most of them don't wear protective masks and gloves?" Mansur, a resident of Grozny, shared his indignation.

It should be noted that on May 10, on the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow of the Peoples of the Chechen Republic, subordinates of Ramzan Kadyrov visited his father's grave, without wearing masks or social distancing, as followed from the report prepared by the "Grozny" TV Channel. Breaking their own bans is a common practice for the Chechen authorities, notes Ruslan Kutaev, the president of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations.
