Conditions in Dagestani border camp give rise to complaints

There are not enough places in the tent camp accommodating the citizens of Azerbaijan, who are waiting for the chance to get home across the border; besides, it is hot and impossible to take a shower, the forced guests are complaining.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that there are about 900 Azerbaijani citizens, staying in Derbent and the Derbent District of Dagestan, who came there from other regions of Russia aiming to cross the border closed due to coronavirus. The first group of Azerbaijanis left Dagestan on May 18.

The second group of more than a hundred Azerbaijani citizens was sent to their homeland on May 26, the press service of the administration of the Derbent District reported on its official Instagram page.

The weather is very hot in the locality where the temporary camp was set up; and it is impossible to stay in tents during the day, the Azerbaijanis stationed there told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to Eldar, an Azerbaijani, they can take a shower in the camp only once a week. "They do a lot for us, we are grateful for that. But it's very hot in tents now."

Alikber, another resident of Azerbaijan, has been waiting for the opening of the border in Dagestan for more than a month. "It's very hard here. Especially for those who have some illnesses," he said.
