Daudov calls on Dagestani authorities to complete border demarcation with Chechnya

The inaction of the commissions, which should complete the demarcation of the Chechen-Dagestani border, increases the risk of republics' conflicts, Magomed Daudov, the Speaker of the Chechen Parliament, has stated. Instagram users have supported his proposal to close the border issue.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 20, 2020, Daudov announced the end of the clarification of the republic's borders with the neighbouring regions. The Dagestani authorities did not claim the same, journalists have noted.

In January 2019, the authorities of both republics agreed to demarcate the border. The Dagestani public commission declared the presence of eight large disputed territories. In June 2019, this led to conflict situations. In particular, residents of the city of Kizlyar dismantled the "Shelkovskoy District" road signs installed by the Chechen party.

The inaction "is in no way contributing to a positive solution to the problem," but "only exacerbates the situation," Mr Daudov wrote on his Instagram.

"This issue should be closed once and for all, so that there are no the regions' contentious issues," the user _gans has agreed.
