Female protesters in Cherkessk fined

The court fined the women-participants in the action against the torture by law enforcers of three residents of Karachay-Cherkessia, the son of one of those fined women said. He stated that law enforcers had also planted weapons on the detainees.

On June 14, in the city of Cherkessk, the capital of Karachay-Cherkessia, about 20 people went to a protest action opposite the republic's government, but the police forced them to disperse. They demanded to let advocates to the three residents of Teberda.

Adei Djukkaev, a son of one of the fined women, said that the action was held in support of his brother Adam Djukkaev and two other detainees - Muradin Laipanov and Taulan Golaev. Referring to his police source, Adei said that law enforcers are trying to get evidence from the detainees against their fellow villagers. "A dead body was found here some 15-20 years ago, and they want them to testify against members of one family, as supposed killers," he said.

All the three detainees are charged with illegal possession of weapons, Adei Djukkaev has added, expressing the opinion that these weapons had been planted on them.
