Kadyrov associates constitutional amendments with Putin's lifetime presidency

A change in the Constitution of Russia is needed to preserve the state, declares the leader of Chechnya. Ramzan Kadyrov called on to make Vladimir Putin the lifetime president of Russia.

In the period from June 25 to July 1, in Russia, including in the southern regions of the country, people are voting on amendments to the Constitution of Russia.

Activists of Southern Russia interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" criticized the constitutional amendments. The activists believe that the amendments will not change the life of Russian citizens for the better and that the voting results can be easily falsified.

"I always say: we should elect Vladimir Putin as a lifetime president. Who can replace him today? There is no such political leader on a global scale," Ramzan Kadyrov said in a video posted on his Telegram channel.

The leader of Chechnya also pointed out that the constitutional amendments were aimed at "preserving the traditional family values."

The constitutional amendments offend national sentiments and suggest irremovability of power, opponents of the amendments believe.
