Azerbaijan accuses Armenia of shelling from large-calibre machine guns

Units of the Armenian Armed Forces have violated the ceasefire for 29 times by using large-calibre machine guns, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 13, Azerbaijan claimed the shelling of five villages in the conflict zone, counting 40 ceasefire violations by Armenia during the past 24 hours.

On August 13-14, the positions of the Azerbaijani Army stationed in the villages of Alibeili, Agdam, Kokhanebi, Asrik Djyrdakhan of the Tovuz District, and on the nameless heights in the Gadabay District came under fire.

The conflict escalated on July 12, when Azerbaijan accused Armenia of trying to attack its positions. According to the Armenian side, the reason for escalation was an Azerbaijan's attempt to break through the border. According to official information, from July 12 to July 27, six military servicemen perished and 38 others were wounded from the Armenian side. In their turn, Azerbaijani authorities reported 13 killed and four wounded militaries.
