The whereabouts of Shamil Magomedov, the former head of the Untsukul District, cannot be established after unidentified persons took him away on August 22, his relatives report. According to their story, a search had been conducted in Magomedov's house a few days earlier.

At the moment of kidnapping, the former official was visiting his friends in the Odintsovo city municipality of the Moscow Region, said Shamil Magomedov's daughter.

She has clarified that on August 15, about 20 people came to his house in Makhachkala, where his wife and sister, daughter, nephew, little child and neighbour were; they introduced themselves as policemen. "People in masks and military uniforms pushed us all rudely into one room ... During the search, they pulled out some weapons from the closet that we never had, and some memory sticks," Magomedov's daughter has stated.

The reason for the search was information that the former official could keep at home "firearms of significance in a criminal case" dealing with deliberately inflicting minor harm to the health of a person named Shamkhalov.
