Militant from Yandarbiev grouping surrenders in Chechnya

Last Monday, a member of illegal armed formations gave himself up to the standby unit of the Grozny District Interior Department ("ROVD"), a source in the law enforcement bodies told the "Interfax."

According to the Agency's source, this is a resident of the Starye Atagi dwelling settlement, who had been a member of Zelimkhan Yandarbiev's grouping from May to September of 1998. Now, a check is underway.

Zelimkhan Yandarbiev, one of the leaders of Chechen militants, perished in Qatar in 2004. Mr. Yandarbiev stood for creating a caliphate from the Black to the Caspian Seas based on the Islamic state of Dagestan and Chechnya.
