Rights defenders point to the political reasons for talk with youngsters at Gudermes police
Svetlana Gannushkina and Ruslan Kutaev, human rights defenders, believe that the head of the Gudermes ROVD (District Interior Division) by scolding the guys for supporting the "Euroichkerians" has supported the federal government's confrontation vector with Western countries.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 14, Iskhak Chalaev, the head of the Gudermes ROVD, posted a video of his explanatory talk with three young guys, in which he chastised them for supporting the publications of the so-called "Euroichkerians" (supporters of the self-proclaimed Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, living in Europe), who criticize Chechen authorities.
According to Svetlana Gannushkina, the head of the "Civil Assistance" Committee, the content of the talk indicates that Chechen leadership is copying the Kremlin's policy of opposing the collective West.
"Of course, this is an internal Chechen story with an attempt to show loyalty to Kadyrov personally; however, it also shows that they are fully grasping the all-Russian political context and pursue their own policy of opposing the collective West," Ms Gannushkina has explained.
Ruslan Kutaev, President of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations, fully agrees with her.
"This is such a symbiosis in realizing the personal goals of Chechen leadership with attempts to demonstrate to the Kremlin a keen understanding of the current political trend against the collective West and their values. Therefore, the video speaks of a depraved lifestyle, alcohol and so on," Mr Kutaev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
