Amnesty International is concerned with oppression of journalists in Azerbaijan

The Amnesty International organization intends to attract attention of international community to the facts of attacks on journalists in Azerbaijan, the "Regnum" reports.

The indicated examples of pressure on journalists include an attack on Nidzhat Guseinov, correspondent of the "Azadlyg" newspaper, and Ali Orudzhev, press secretary of the Party of National Independence, an undiscovered murder of Elmar Guseinov, editor of the "Monitor" magazine, and kidnapping and beating of Fikret Guseinli, employee of the "Azadlyg," and Bakhaddin Khaziev, editor of the "Bizim Yol" newspaper.

It has also been indicated that the victims of the attacks adhered to opposition viewpoints.

The Amnesty International demands that official Baku take immediate and necessary steps to disclose all these crimes and bring the culprits to justice.
