Armenian analysts state the need to hold elections

On February 26, in Yerevan, oppositionists, analysts and activists discussed the current political situation. The way out of the situation can be the holding of parliamentary elections and the creation of a new political force that will rally residents around and lead the country out of the crisis, the participants of the meeting believe.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Nikol Pashinyan, Armenian Prime Minister, offered the parliament to hold early elections in 2021. Mr Pashinyan has stated that there are only two options for holding early parliamentary elections – after resignation of the head of the government, or as a result of amending the Constitution. The opposition is not strong enough to force Pashinyan to resign, political analysts have noted.

The political crisis in Armenia is getting deeper and deeper, said Mikael Naapetyan, a member of the "Citizen's Decision" Party.

According to Gro Akopyan, his party colleague, there is a decline of interest in the political life among residents of Armenia, since "after the war, people fell into depression and apathy."

Another debater named Mais has noted that in the current situation, all residents of Armenia should unite.
