Oppositionists block building of Armenian parliament

In Yerevan, participants of a protest action cordoned off the territory of the Armenian parliament and blocked the entrances and exits of the building. There are clashes between activists and policemen, who are trying to push the oppositionists away from the parliament building.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Onik Gasparyan's term as the chief of the General Headquarters of the Armenia's Armed Forces expires today, since President Armen Sarkisyan has not sent the draft decree on his resignation to the Constitutional Court. The opposition of Armenia is holding a new rally on Bagramyan Avenue.

"We believe that the current parliament is incompetent, and it should be dissolved," claimed Ishkhan Sagatelyan, a member of the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun" office.

According to his version, the police create the artificial tension. Ishkhan Sagatelyan called on the police not to provoke clashes and promised that "the opposition would not organize any illegal actions."

The activists are chanting: "Armenia without Nikol" and "Nikol is a traitor".
