Kadyrov criticizes Navalny for mentioning Koran

Alexei Navalny has no right to mention and read the Koran, Ramzan Kadyrov said after learning about the oppositionist's request to provide him with the Koran for reading, and on behalf of all Russian Muslims urged the colony staff not to fulfil the prisoner's request.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 2, a court in Moscow sentenced Navalny to 3.5 years in prison instead of the earlier appointed conditional imprisonment within the "Yves Rocher" case.

Alexei Navalny, who is being kept at Pokrov Colony IK-2, has informed that he had filed a lawsuit against the colony administration, because the staff puts pressure on him – in particular, they did not provide the books he requested for reading, citing the need to check the requested books for extremism. Among the books he asked about was the Koran, in particular, the "Kommersant" has reported today.

Today, in his Telegram channel, Ramzan Kadyrov has posted sharp criticism of Alexei Navalny. "Who gave Navalny the moral right to mention the Holy Koran? The man who treats the Muslim women wearing hijabs as medieval savages, participates in actions against construction of mosques, today he is trying to rehabilitate himself in a cheap way and earn Muslims' favour," the head of Chechnya has written.

Kadyrov "on behalf of the Russian Muslims" has appealed to the colony staff, "where the provocateur is being kept." "Don't let the prisoner, who is serving a just sentence, sow sectarian enmity! If he sincerely repents, wants to take the path of truth, accepts Islam and wholeheartedly wants to hear the word of the Almighty (which I doubt), then this is permissible. But if otherwise, then the Koran is not such a book to allow him to touch it with his dirty hands, "Ramzan Kadyrov has pointed out.
