Peskov rejects Putin’s connection to Kuban palace after BBC investigation

Today, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary for the President of Russia, has called a “fiddle” the BBC investigation concerning a palace located at Cape Idokopas in the Krasnodar Territory.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on January 19, the Anti-Corruption Foundation (ACF)* released an investigation entitled “Palace for Putin” about the construction of the largest private house in Russia at Cape Idokopas near Gelendzhik. According to the ACF’s investigation, the cost of the construction amounted to about 100 billion roubles, and the area of the palace reached more than 17,000 square metres.

The versions from the Alexei Navalny’s investigation about the so-called “Palace for Putin” located in the vicinities of Gelendzhik are confirmed by a bulk of documents prepared at the stages of designing and changing an owner of the building, authors of the investigation held by the BBC Russian Service report today.

Without even reading the BBC material, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary for the President of Russia, called the investigation a “fiddle.” “I have not heard of any BBC material. Whatever it is, this is all fiddle. We have talked a lot about the object and about the fact that it is not associated with Mr Putin in any way,” announced Dmitry Peskov as quoted by the Russian news agency (RIA) “Novosti” today.

Let us remind you that after the ACF’s investigation had been disseminated throughout Russia, mass protests took place, including in the southern regions of the country, and political analysts called them the largest protest actions within the entire post-Soviet period.
