Azerbaijani journalists blown up by a mine buried
The funerals of the journalists, Siradj Abishov and Magerram Ibragimov, who perished in the Karabakh conflict zone, took place in the Apsheron District and on the Martyrs' Alley in Sumgait.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 4, Siradj Abishov, the AzTV cameraman, and Magerram Ibragimov (Alioglu), a journalist of the "Azertadj" News Agency, got blown up by a mine in the Kelbadjar District.
Baku has sent a complaint to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) over Armenia's refusal to provide minefield maps of the territories now controlled by Azerbaijan. However, the ECtHR rejected the demand to apply interim measures on this complaint.
In connection with the deaths of journalists, Azerbaijani authorities announced Armenia's desire to complicate the return of refugees to the territories that came under Baku's control following the hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh in the fall of 2020. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has recalled the capture on May 27 of six Armenian soldiers who mined the border territories. Azerbaijani human rights defenders have suggested that Armenian militaries had mined, when leaving Kelbadjar, the place where the mine was detonated.
