Social media users doubt Taramova’s words about observance of her rights in Chechnya
In their comments under a video report released by the “Grozny” TV Channel, social media users noted that Khalimat Taramova behaved unnaturally during the video and could hardly answer the questions sincerely. Internet users doubt the young woman’s statement about the observance of her rights in Chechnya.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on June 10, law enforcers came to a Makhachkala apartment shelter for victims of domestic violence. They detained staff members of the “Marem” project and Khalimat Taramova, as well as a mother and her 15-year-old daughter, who were hiding from domestic violence.
In the report released by the “Grozny” TV Channel, Khalimat Taramova said that she was glad to be at home. The young woman assured that she was “absolutely not pressured” and “got delicious food.” Khalimat Taramova also commented on messages reporting that she faces mortal danger in Chechnya. "”I am shocked by what I read ... My dad is really good: he doesn't oppress me, he doesn't beat me,” the young woman said.
However, some of social media users doubted the sincerity of Khalimat Taramova’s words. “She’s acting restless. You can see from her eyes that she is scared,” user myna4ka believes.
Some users also expressed a different opinion. “The young woman does not look like the one who is afraid of her father: she answers questions too freely,” user yusuf_19_89_ stated.
In 2019, a similar story happened to a 20-year-old Moscow resident. According to Dariya Serenko, the activist of the “Kitezh” crisis centre, parents of the 20-year-old Moscow resident wanted to marry her by force and took her to Chechnya against her will. After that, an audio message from the young woman appeared on the Internet, in which she stated that she had gone to Chechnya of her own free will.
