Azerbaijan claims shelling of its positions along Armenian border

From their positions located in the Vardenis, Berd and Vedi Districts, Armenian soldiers have shelled the positions of Azerbaijani militaries deployed in the Kelbadjar, Tovuz and Sadarak Districts, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Armenia and Azerbaijan are systematically exchanging accusations of shelling on their joint border. According to the Armenian MoD, on July 16, Azerbaijani militaries delivered fire in the direction of the Armenian positions located on the border of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic (NAR) and the Ararat Region.

From their positions stationed in the village of Yukhary Shordja of the Basarkechar District (the Armenian name is the Vardenis District, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"), and on July 17 – from the direction of the village of Mosesgekh of the Berd District, Armenian militaries periodically shelled the positions of the Azerbaijani Army in the direction of the village of Istisu, Kelbadjar District, and the village of Agdam, Tovuz District, the Azerbaijani MoD has reported.

Also on July 17, from their positions stationed near the village of Arazdeyen, Vedi District (Ararat Region), Armenian soldiers shelled the positions of Azerbaijani militaries in the direction of the Sadarak District of the NAR.

Azerbaijani soldiers opened a return fire, the MoD has noted, adding that there were no victims.
