Makhachkala resident accused of extremism
In Dagestan, a local resident will appear before the court, as investigators treat him as a member of the banned religious association "At-Takfir Wal-Hijra"*.
According to investigators, in 2017 in Makhachkala, the defendant joined the above religious association. He called to reject secular laws, by seeking to create a state with a radical form of religious ruling. At their meetings, the supporters of the association were engaged in interpreting the religious literature banned in Russia, the Investigating Department for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has reported.
The 31-year-old resident of Makhachkala is under threat of up to six years in prison.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 22, 2021, the ICRF announced the detention in the Stavropol Territory of seven residents of Dagestan, Karachay-Cherkessia and the Stavropol Territory, suspected of an attempt to blow up a police station in Kislovodsk. On July 25, the mother of one of the detainees, a native of Dagestan, Makhach Bashirov, asked President Vladimir Putin to help to release her son, and declared his innocence.
