Observers in Tbilisi point to low voter turnout
The second round of elections in the Gldani District of Tbilisi began with a lower voter turnout than the first round, observers have noted.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today Georgia has started the second round of voting at elections to local self-governments. The voting takes place in Tbilisi, Rustavi, Kutaisi and 17 other cities of Georgia.
Today in Gldani, the voter turnout is significantly lower than at the first round, said Shorena Chigkhladze, an observer from the NGO "Light of the Future", who monitored Polling Station No. 92.
"Since morning, few people have come to our polling station, while during the first round, which took place on October 2, there was a queue in front of the polling station doors from the very morning. And now – well, here are five people," Ms Chigkhladze told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
A similar opinion was expressed by Revaz, an observer from the "United National Movement" (UNM) Party, who is monitoring Polling Station No. 86. "In half an hour, only 23 people came, while during the first round more than 50 people had already voted during the same time," he told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
