Gudermes girls' selfies give policemen chance to show themselves as morality zealots
The educational conversation with relatives of the girls who took selfies on the balcony in Gudermes continued the trend of persecuting social network users for "inappropriate" behaviour, a political analyst believes. Some Instagram users have treated the release of the video with the girls as an intrusion into their privacy.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 1, in the city of Gudermes, law enforcers brought three 14-year-old girls to the police, because one of them posted a video taken on the edge of the balcony; and their parents were brought to administrative responsibility.
Magomed Khamidov, a political analyst, believes that the case with the girls continues the trend launched by Magomed Daudov, the Speaker of the Chechen Parliament, who has declared a fight against social media users who are engaged in empty talks.
According to Mr Khamidov, law enforcers paid attention to the girls, though hardly worrying about their safety.
Instagram users were ambivalent about the girls' reprimanding for their selfies taken on the balcony. Some did not discuss the conversation with the girls' relatives at the police, however, treating such hobbies as unsafe. Others noted that even this kind of behaviour fits into the concept of a "personal matter."
