Dudaev announces a ban on selling Medina Mirai’s book in Chechnya

The authorities of Chechnya stopped the distribution of the Medina Mirai’s book “Syntonyms”, considering it immoral, and will not allow its sales in the republic, announces Chechen Minister for National Policy Akhmed Dudaev. According to him, the book promotes values alien to the Chechen society.

On November 11, Akhmed Dudaev, Minister for National Policy, External Relations, Press, and Information of Chechnya, reported on his Instagram page that the Chechen authorities had stopped the distribution in the region of the book “Syntonyms” by writer Medina Mirai.

The book “Syntonyms” is written in the genre of fantasy. According to the reference information posted on the website of the publishing house “AST”, the Medina Mirai’s books combine fantastic plots and open dialogue on the LGBT issue.

Akhmed Dudaev emphasizes that the Medina Mirai’s book “Syntonyms” promotes values alien to the society of Chechnya and Russia as a whole. “[It promotes] an absolutely immoral way of life that runs counter to our traditions and customs. Of course, we stopped this activity and will never allow any similar book products to be distributed on the territory of the Chechen Republic,” Akhmed Dudaev stated.
