Picketers in Makhachkala demand to release Gadjiev and political prisoners

Journalists in Makhachkala have held pickets demanding to stop the criminal prosecution of their colleague, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, to release political prisoners and stop arresting people without proofs.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Makhachkala, pickets are held every week in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a journalist of the "Chernovik" (Draft) portal. His colleagues treat the cases of pressure on media and criminal prosecution of journalists as an all-Russian trend.

Idris Yusupov, a journalist, said that the first solo picket demanding to free Gadjiev was held by Magomed Magomedov; the second one was held by Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the "Chernovik" with a demand to stop arrests without proofs; and the third picket with a demand to free political prisoners was held by Yusupov himself.

Passers-by and motorists actively reacted to all three actions, expressing their support for the picketers, Idris Yusupov has added.

Magomed Magomedov, the deputy editor-in-chief of the "Chernovik", has noted that during the pickets there were no obstacles on the part of law enforcers.
