Yerevan and Stepanakert condemn visit of UN officials to Shusha
The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has expressed its protested to the United Nations (UN) in connection with the participation of its officials in the events held in Shusha. The visit of UN officials was also criticized by Artak Beglaryan, the Nagorno-Karabakh State Minister.
Lily Peters Yakhya, the Acting UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia, was invited to the Armenian MFA and told that Yerevan "strongly condemns the involvement of the Azerbaijani UN office in the March 18 events in Shusha."
The reason for criticism was the March 18 visit of UN officials to Shusha, where events were held in honour of the 30th anniversary of the Azerbaijan-UN partnership. The UN delegation travelled to Shusha along the "Victory Road", the "Trend.az: has reported.
The aim of the visit was to set up a platform for discussing the between the UN-Azerbaijani partnership.
Artak Beglaryan, the Nagorno-Karabakh State Minister, has noted that not a single UN official had ever visited the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh; they are not interested in the fate of forced migrants and fail to react to Azerbaijan's provocations, the "news.am" has written.
