Azerbaijani border guards detain Armenian military
Eduard Martirosov, a military serviceman, has been detained by border guards in the Zangilan District of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani State Frontier Service (SFS) has reported. The Armenian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has announced that steps are being taken to return the serviceman.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening on April 23, a group of Armenian militaries tried to penetrate the territory of Azerbaijan, as the Azerbaijani SFS reported on April 24. The Armenian MoD refuted this statement.
Servicemen of the Azerbaijani SFS have detained Eduard Martirosov, an Armenian serviceman, when he tried to cross the Azeri state border, the "Report" News Agency informed in the evening on April 24, citing the SFS. Azerbaijani border guards treat the detainee as a member of a sabotage group of the Armenian Armed Forces.
The above Armenian conscript had crossed the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and is on the Azerbaijani side, the Armenian MoD later confirmed.
"The necessary steps are being taken to return Private Martirosov to the Armenian side. In connection with the incident, on behalf of the Armenian Defence Minister, an internal investigation has been appointed," the "NEWS.am" has quoted the Armenian MoD as stating.
