Armenian oppositionists claim searches in their associates' homes
Armenian authorities are trying to intimidate opposition protest leaders by conducting searches in homes of their associates in a number of cities across the country, members of the Armenian opposition have informed.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today since early morning, in Yerevan, the opposition has started its disobedience actions. In particular, activists have blocked the government building, where the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) is located.
In the cities of Tavush, Kotayk and Gegarkunik, houses of members of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation "Dashnaktsutyun" (ARFD) are being searched, Ishkhan Sagatelyan, a Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament from the "Aiastan" faction, has stated. "Both the searchers, and those who gave orders to search homes will be held accountable," Mr Sagatelyan wrote in his social media page today.
In his turn, Aik Mamidjanyan, an MP from the "I have the honour" faction, announced in his social network page that homes of his supporters in Gyumri and Noemberyan had been searched.
Arsen Babayan, a member of the "Fatherland" Party, has also reported about a search in the apartment of his colleague. In his opinion, the searches were initiated in order to intimidate opposition supporters.
