Internet users argue about use of force against a Chechen driver who apologized

An apology for driving in a state of alcoholic intoxication and trying to run away from a policeman is not enough to treat the incident as closed, some social media users point out after a video of a conversation with the offender was posted on the Internet. The policeman used excessive force during the detention of the drunk driver, other users noted.

Social media posted a video showing a driver trying to escape from a road-and-patrol service (known as DPS) police inspector. The video shows how a man is running away from the road, on which two cars stand, and a man in police uniform is chasing him on the field. After the suspect fell down, the man in uniform kicked him, follows from the video of the incident, posted in the “ChP Grozny” Telegram channel.

The driver, who tried to run away from the policeman, was brought to administrative responsibility, the Instagram* public account “Grozny” reported. “Based on the fact of the offence, driver B. Shamurzaev was brought to administrative responsibility for driving in a state of alcoholic intoxication,” the post reads.

The driver apologized for his behaviour, follows from the video of the conversation with him in Chechen, which was posted in the Instagram* public account “ChP Chechnya” on May 24.

In their comments, some social media users noted the lack of enforcement measures. “The person who was filming the video should have been punished. And the man who was driving while being drank should have been put in jail for life. He does great harm. He can accidentally hit a child with his car and makes him disabled for life,” user turkei_95 wrote.

Meanwhile, some users expressed in their comments the indignation about the methods of detention. “But who gave you the right to beat a person? It is clearly visible how the policeman kicked him. What does that mean? Where are such police rules written?” user margo_salam0505 wondered.
