Azerbaijan returns a captured soldier to Armenia
Soldier Eduard Martirosov, who was detained by Azerbaijani border guards in April, has been returned from captivity, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Armenia reports.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on April 24, the Azerbaijani border guard service announced the detention of Armenian soldier Eduard Martirosov at the border. Azerbaijani border guards considered the detainee a member of a sabotage group of the Armenian armed forces.
Conscript soldier Eduard Martirosov, who had been held in Azerbaijani captivity since April, has been returned to the Armenian side, the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent has learned from a press officer of the Armenian MoD. “Today, with the mediation of Major General Andrei Volkov, the commander of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), Eduard Martirosov has been returned to the Armenian side,” said the MoD’s press officer. He also added that an agreement on the return of the captured soldier was reached in Brussels on May 22.
