Kuban activist fined for discrediting army
A court in the Krasnodar Territory (also known as Kuban by the name of the main river) has found Vitaly Molodanov, a resident of the village of Poltavskaya, guilty of discrediting Russian militaries after his posts in a social network and a local chat. The activist said he would appeal the court's ruling.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that back in July, Vitaly Molodanov was accused of discrediting the Russian Army in his posting in social networks and in a local chat.
The Krasnoarmeisky District Court has found Molodanov guilty of discrediting the Russian Armed Forces because of his link to a pacifist video in the "VKontakte" and a photo with the letter Z in the chat about elections to the local Legislative Assembly, the human rights project "OVD-Info"* has reported.
The activist explained that he did not know what fine he was given, since he has not yet received the judgement. "I plan to appeal against it," he said.
*By the decision of the Russian Ministry of Justice, the project was included into the list of unregistered public associations performing the functions of a foreign agent.
