Law enforcers report detention of initiators of protests in Dagestan

In Dagestan, the administrators of the Telegram channels that posted calls for protests against the mobilization have been detained, law enforcers have informed. At least five persons have been detained: it follows from the posted video.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Dagestani authorities refused to recognize the street anti-mobilization protests in the republic as local residents' initiative. On September 26, Sergey Melikov, the head of Dagestan, stated that the actions in Makhachkala had been prepared "including from abroad." Following him, this idea was confirmed by Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov, the republic's Premier.

Large-scale anti-mobilization actions were held in Makhachkala on September 25 and 26; they ended in mass detentions. Law enforcers also detained journalists. On September 25, the administrator of the "Podval Dagestana" (Dagestani Cellar) Telegram channel, which covered the protests, managed to report that his house was being searched and stopped communicating.

According to the local Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), administrators of anonymous Telegram channels were detained in Dagestan, who "had distributed untrue information about mobilization in Dagestan and the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD)," as well as posted calls for protests and "provoked unauthorized rallies," the "Dagestanskaya Pravda" newspaper reports.
