After persecutions for anti-mobilization protest, Krasnodar resident leaves Russia
After being persecuted by law enforcers for taking part in a protest against mobilization, a resident of Kuban (the Krasnodar Territory) was forced to leave Russia in order to obtain political asylum.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 24, Krasnodar hosted two anti-mobilization protests, which ended in detentions.
Artyom Shakhov, 31, was among the detainees; he has informed that he is now in Turkey and plans to receive the political refugee status there, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project has informed.
According to Artyom, he took part in a pacifist action only once, because before that, working as a manager, he had lived in China for four years and only recently returned to Russia.
He has noted that at detention, law enforcers "very rudely dragged him into a bus and demanded to unlock his phone." Then, according to his story, he was beaten by two law enforcers, and later he fixed his traumas – bruises to the head and a hip.
"Law enforcers called the military commissariat aiming to serve summonses to protesters. They took away my phone ... I'm afraid that they could find out that I was transferring funds for humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian residents affected by the hostilities," Artyom Shakhov has told.
