Participants of actions in Europe call on Vainakhs' unity on anniversary of first Chechen war
Rallies dated to the 28th anniversary of the start of the First Chechen Campaign were held in Austria, Germany, France and other European countries. The Chechen Diaspora must remain united, despite the split in the Euro-Ichkerian political field, Shamil Albakov, the press secretary of the Assembly of European Chechens, has stated.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 8, the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine adopted a law recognizing the territory of Ichkeria (Chechnya) as temporarily occupied by Russia.
On December 11, actions to mark the anniversary of the start of the First Chechen Campaign were held in Vienna and Berlin, Roza Dunaeva, the representative of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria in Austria, has stated, as the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project reports.
A video clip showing a rally near the Council of Europe in Strasbourg has been posted in the "Citizen of Ichkeria" YouTube channel.
"We have gathered here to remind that our people have rights, and that these rights must be respected. The resolution will be sent to the Council of Europe," Shamil Albakov has stated in the video.
On November 25 and 26, a congress of the united Diaspora of the unrecognized Chechen Republic of Ichkeria was held in France, at which the creation of the "United Force" movement was announced under the leadership of Djambulat Suleimanov, the head of the "Tolam" Committee.
Analysts have noted that among the Chechens living in Europe, a political split occurred amid the Russia's special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine. One part of Euro-Ichkerians have rallied around Akhmed Zakaev, who stands for building a secular Ichkeria, while others, led by Djambulat Suleimanov, stick to the idea of creating a republic ruled by the Sharia Law.
