Dagestani authorities remind tourists of the need to dress modestly

The Ministry of Tourism of Dagestan has issued a memo for the guests coming to the republic, advising them to wear "modest" clothes and follow the rules of behaviour in Dagestan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that residents of Dagestan had repeatedly complained about tourists for their behaviour and appearance. In July 2021, the republic's authorities issued a memo for the guests thereof, which stated that tourists in Dagestan should not wear tight jeans and short skirts; and men should not wear shorts.

The new memo states that tourists should not wear miniskirts, open and tight clothes, T-shirts and shorts. The authors also pointed out that residents of the republic do not welcome smoking in public places, especially of women, handshakes of men with women, and "active manifestations of man-woman feelings a in public," the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project writes.

"It's better to stick to more modest clothing … It is imperative to have a headscarf with you if you plan to visit religious places of worship," reads the memo posted in the Telegram channel "Not-Moscow Speaks".

Let us remind you that in May, a video was posted in social networks with a girl without clothes, posing amid mountains. She deleted the photos after receiving dozens of angry comments from residents of Dagestan. On May 22, a video of her apology was posted. She also stated that she decided to convert to Islam. Telegram users doubted the sincerity of her apology.
