Makhachkala: torture of girl in family outraged social network users
A Makhachkala woman is suspected of torturing her husband's nine-year-old daughter, the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has informed. Instagram* users have called for the girl's father to be punished, suggesting that he had admitted the torture.
According to investigators, since the summer of 2021, the woman "based on personal hostility caused physical and mental sufferings" to her stepdaughter, including beating her with her hands and "improvised objects."
Many Instagram** commentators have sharply condemned the stepmother's actions and claimed that she should be severely punished. However, most of them have expressed the opinion that the girl's father is also responsible for the girl's sufferings.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 30, a four-year-old girl in Ingushetia was hospitalized in grave condition. Her mother was charged with grievous bodily harm caused to a child. In May, the girl died at hospital.
Authorities must bring to responsibility the inactive childcare officials and ensure the safety of other children from the family of the deceased girl, the "Marem" human rights group has stated.
*On March 21, 2022, the Tverskoi Court of Moscow banned the activities in Russia of the Meta Company, owning the Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, in connection with extremist activities.
