It took two days for ICRF to open a case on attack on Milashina and Nemov

The attack on the lawyer, Alexander Nemov, and the journalist, Elena Milashina, is being investigated under the articles on causing harm to health of medium and light gravity, the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has informed on the second day after the attack. Milashina has a traumatic brain trauma, numerous bruises and fractures of 14 bones, the "Novaya Gazeta" reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 4, in Chechnya, Elena Milashina, a journalist of the "Novaya Gazeta" outlet, and Alexander Nemov, an advocate for Zarema Musaeva, were attacked. Milashina said that there were at least 10 attackers; they demanded to unblock her phone and threatened to cut off her fingers. Lawyers have noted that Chechen investigators were in no hurry to initiate a case on the attack, although the investigation does not guarantee that the perpetrators will be named.

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has promised to "sort it out"; Mansur Soltaev, the Chechen Ombudsperson, has treated the attack as a provocation; and Akhmed Dudaev, the head of the Chechen Press Ministry, pointed out that "the style of Western intelligence services" was traced in the attack.

After the attack, Elena Milashina has undergone an examination, the "Novaya Gazeta" has reported. "Her diagnoses are as follows: a closed craniocerebral trauma; multiple bone fractures and bruises. Her consciousness is clear, and health condition is stable," says the outlet's website.
