Advocate Mikhail Benyash* treats ECtHR's decisions on his complaints as formality

The decision of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) on the complaints about beating by law enforcers and an administrative arrest won't affect Russian authorities and will never be executed, Mikhail Benyash* has pointed out.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 20, the ECtHR decided on the complaints about the detention of Mikhail Benyash on the day of the action against raising the retirement age in 2018 and against his arrest in 2021 and ordered the Russian authorities to pay him 16,000 euros in compensation.

The ECtHR's decision has no sense, since it will not be executed, Mikhail Benyash believes. "Now the decision won't have any impact – there will be no enforcement and no revision ... When they illegally imprisoned me, then it was necessary," he has stated.

Alexander Pikhovkin, an advocate for Mikhail Benyash, has also treated the ECtHR's decision as belated. He has added that the ECtHR failed to examine the violation of Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), namely, on the right to the freedom of expression.
