Mayoralty warns Makhachkala townspeople against participating in unsanctioned actions

Makhachkala city authorities have called on residents not to succumb to provocations and refrain from taking part in unsanctioned actions; they also report about their preventive work with students and schoolchildren.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Chief Mufti of Tatarstan and Dagestani Imams had called for leniency towards rioters. Sergey Melikov, the head of Dagestan, has threatened protesters with inevitable punishment, but after requests from the athletes, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Makhmud Magomedov, he promised to punish those who "smashed shop windows," but not those who just stood "with the flag of Palestine."

On October 29, after reports about the arrival of an aircraft with passengers from Israel, mass riots occurred at Makhachkala Airport; more than 20 people received traumas. Twenty rioters have been identified; penalties have been passed in 49 initiated cases.

Makhachkala authorities have urged townspeople not to succumb to provocations and refrain from illegal rallies, says the Telegram channel of the Makhachkala city administration.

Yusup Umavov, the city Mayor, has stated in his Telegram channel that information about the inadmissibility of participation in unsanctioned actions "had been communicated to all schools." Also, "talks had been held" with students of the Dagestani State University.
