Zarema Musaeva transferred to Grozny SIZO
A decision was made to transfer Zarema Musaeva from the colony in Argun to the SIZO (pre-trial prison) in Grozny so that she could take part via video link in a court hearing, at which an appeal against her verdict will be considered, human rights defenders have informed.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 6, the court session was postponed due to the fact that Musaeva was unable to take part therein, since the colony in Argun has no technical facilities to provide her with a video link. On February 13, Alexander Savin, one of her advocates, noted that closer to the date of the court session, scheduled for March 5, Musaeva could be transferred to another penitentiary institution capable to hold a video link.
The court session, at which the appeal against Zarema Musaeva's verdict will be considered, is scheduled for February 28, an employee of the "Team against Torture" (TaT)* has reported.
Let us recall that on November 3, 2023, the advocate asked the cassation court in Pyatigorsk to overturn Zarema Musaeva's verdict due to unjustified charges and law violations. The court had sentenced her to 5.5 years in jail, finding her guilty of assaulting a policeman.
*The "Team against Torture" (TaT, formerly the "Committee against Torture" – CaT) was created by the lawyers who had earlier worked for the CaT, which was included into the register of the NCOs performing the functions of foreign agents.
